Residents of Asheville’s Biltmore Village unite for long journey to recovery

The downtown village of Biltmore in Asheville, N.C. is struggling to recover following the devastation caused by Hurricane Helene. The once pristine river nearby is now filled with trash and debris, shops and restaurants are closed, and many iconic features of the village have been washed away. Residents are working hard to clean up and rebuild, but it will take weeks or even months to fully restore Biltmore to its former glory.

Water levels reached several feet high during the storm, inundating buildings and small businesses. Despite the chaos and devastation, the community has come together to support each other and begin the recovery process. Residents are working to clear debris, repair damage, and lift up their community in the aftermath of the disaster.

Although the scars of Hurricane Helene are still visible in Biltmore, residents like Renee White and Kareem McDowell are finding hope in the unity and resilience of their community. People of all races, colors, and political affiliations are coming together to help each other and work towards rebuilding Biltmore. While the road to recovery may be long and difficult, the residents of Asheville are determined to overcome the challenges they face and restore their beloved village to its former beauty.
