South Carolina basketball is ready to kick off the season with an exhibition game against head coach Lamont Paris’ alma mater, Wooster. The game will take place at Colonial Life Arena on Wednesday night, with admission being free and parking available for $20 via credit card only. While there will be no TV broadcast, fans can tune in to a live internet broadcast on GamecocksOnline.com and the Tune-In App.
Paris, a former player for Wooster, graduated in 1996 and was a key player for the Fighting Scots, helping them make multiple NCAA Tournament appearances. He now leads a talented Gamecocks team that includes six returning letterwinners, including Collin Murray-Boyles, Myles Stute, and Jacobi Wright. The team has also added new talent through transfers and the addition of highly touted freshman Cam Scott.
The roster also features a significant number of local talent, with eight players hailing from South Carolina. This emphasis on recruiting within the state is a nod to the program’s history and commitment to developing homegrown talent. Fans can still purchase season tickets and single-game tickets for an exciting season ahead.
South Carolina is looking to build on their success from last year, where they reached the NCAA Tournament and tied a school record with 26 wins. With a mix of experienced returners and talented newcomers, the Gamecocks are poised for another successful season under coach Paris’ leadership.
