Barry Scores a Goal to Secure Victory for No. 14 South Carolina Over No. 2 Mississippi State

The No. 14 ranked South Carolina women’s soccer team suffered their first loss of the season at home against the No. 2 Mississippi State Bulldogs in their final regular season game. Fifth-year player Catherine Barry scored the opening goal in the 10th minute, putting the Gamecocks ahead. However, Mississippi State rallied back with two goals in the second half, ultimately winning 2-1. South Carolina goalkeeper Tina Tsaousis had a strong performance, but the Bulldogs managed to secure the victory. Despite the loss, Barry now leads the SEC with 13 goals this season.

The Gamecocks will now prepare for the SEC Tournament in Pensacola, FL, where they will compete for the 18th consecutive year as the No. 4 seed. Their first match in the tournament will be against the winner of Vanderbilt vs. Alabama on Tuesday, Nov. 5 at 8:00 p.m. The team will look to bounce back from their loss and make a strong showing in the postseason.
