Chargers hold off Bengals’ late surge to secure 34-27 victory

In Week 11, the Cincinnati Bengals faced a crucial game against the Los Angeles Chargers on ‘Sunday Night Football’. Despite trailing 27-6 early in the third quarter, the Bengals mounted a remarkable comeback, scoring 21 unanswered points to tie the game. However, Bengals kicker Evan McPherson missed two potential game-winning field goals, giving the Chargers a chance to win the game. With 45 seconds left, Justin Herbert led the Chargers on a game-winning drive, ultimately scoring a touchdown with 18 seconds remaining to secure a 41-34 victory.

The Bengals’ comeback effort fell short, leaving them with a 4-7 record and a 1-6 record in games decided by a touchdown or less this season. Herbert had a solid performance for the Chargers, throwing for 297 yards and two touchdowns, while also contributing 65 rushing yards. Running back J.K. Dobbins added 56 yards on the ground, as the Chargers rushed for 155 yards overall.

Despite Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow’s impressive second-half performance, throwing for 356 yards and three touchdowns, the team was unable to secure the win in another close game. The Bengals had won four of their last seven games before facing the Chargers, but their struggles in close games continued, with a 1-6 record in games decided by seven points or less. The game featured several standout performances, including big plays from Herbert, Dobbins, McConkey, Higgins, and Chase.
