Horry County Schools Announces New Elementary Schools and Mascots in Carolina Forest Area
CONWAY, S.C. (WMBF) — Horry County Schools has unveiled the names and mascots for two new elementary schools set to open in the Carolina Forest area next year. At a school board meeting on Monday, officials established Ten Oaks Elementary School, located on Carolina Forest Boulevard, with the mascot of the Red Foxes. Pine Island Elementary School, situated on Ronald McNair Boulevard, will adopt the Pelicans as its mascot.
In addition to naming the schools, the board announced the appointments of the principal for each institution. Andrena Baker, currently the assistant principal at Myrtle Beach Middle School, will lead Ten Oaks Elementary. Meanwhile, Dr. Michael Raymond, who serves as the principal at Switlik Elementary School in Jackson, New Jersey, will head Pine Island Elementary. Both educators are slated to begin their new roles in January 2025.
In recent news, topping-off ceremonies were held for both schools, celebrating the completion of their structural frameworks. Each school is designed to accommodate approximately 1,200 students, with plans for their grand opening in August 2025.
