The University of South Carolina athletic program has once again demonstrated its commitment to academic excellence, tying for third in the Southeastern Conference in the latest Graduation Success Rate (GSR) released by the NCAA. With a 94 percent score, South Carolina’s athletic teams ranked behind only Vanderbilt and Alabama in the SEC, showcasing their dedication to both on-field success and academic achievement.
Athletics Director Ray Tanner expressed pride in the academic accomplishments of the student-athletes, highlighting their hard work in balancing athletics and academics. The university’s nine teams achieved a perfect GSR of 100, further emphasizing the culture of academic excellence within Gamecock Athletics.
South Carolina’s record of academic success extends beyond the GSR results, with student-athletes maintaining a departmental GPA of 3.37 and earning 133 degrees during the 2023-24 academic year. The university leads in SEC Academic Honor Roll membership since 2015-16, showcasing a consistent commitment to academic excellence in addition to athletic achievement.
Six Gamecocks also earned College Sports Communicators Academic All-America honors, further highlighting the individual academic achievements within the program. With a cumulative GPA of 3.41 for all student-athletes since arriving at Carolina, South Carolina continues to set high standards for academic success in collegiate athletics.
