University of South Carolina senior Edge rusher Kyle Kennard has been announced as one of the four finalists for the prestigious 2024 Lombardi Award™. Standing at 6-5, 245-pounds, Kennard, who hails from Atlanta, Georgia, has displayed an impressive performance in the SEC, ranking fifth in the country with 10.5 sacks and fourth in the country with 14.5 tackles for loss. He is also a semifinalist for the Nagurski Award, the Bednarik Award, and the Walter Camp Player of the Year.
Established in 1970 in memory of legendary coach Vince Lombardi, the Lombardi Award™ is presented to outstanding linemen who embody values of leadership, courage, performance, and discipline both on and off the field. The award dinner is set to take place on December 11, 2024, in Houston, Texas, with proceeds dedicated to supporting cancer research and families affected by the disease.
Kennard’s impressive record on the field has seen him named to the Sporting News midseason All-America team and recognized as the nation’s 14th-best player by ESPN. He is on track to break records at Carolina, ranking second in the school’s single-season top-10 sacks list and sixth in single-season tackles for loss.
