Christopher Spear, a man previously arrested for fraudulently purchasing a home, has been charged once again by the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office. Spear, along with Deathra Watson, was arrested in May for presenting false information to buy a home and moving in without permission. Deputies have now accused Spear of attempting to purchase thousands of dollars worth of furniture using deceitful tactics. After racking up an unpaid balance of over $3,400 at Hampton Furniture, Spear failed to make the payment as promised. Despite providing various excuses, including claiming that his check had been stolen and his debit card declining multiple times, Spear was unable to fulfill his payment obligations to the company. Detectives have now charged him with breach/obtaining property under false pretenses, and he has been booked into the Anderson County Detention Center. Deputies have labeled him as a “Serial Scammer Spear” and are warning the public to be cautious of his fraudulent behavior.
