The South Carolina Gamecocks volleyball team, under the leadership of head coach Tom Mendoza, has earned its fourth NCAA Tournament appearance. The team will be traveling to the Waco, Texas Regional to face Dayton in the first round on Thursday. The Gamecocks finished the regular season with a 16-11 record, while Dayton enters the postseason with a 29-2 overall record.
In addition to the NCAA Tournament bid, senior Riley Whitesides was named to the All-SEC First Team, and first-year libero Victoria Harris made the All-Freshman Team. Whitesides had an impressive season as an attacker, ranking inside the top 25 nationally in kills per set. Harris, a Columbia native, had a record-setting season as a libero, ranking sixth in the SEC for digs per set.
The Gamecocks are excited for the opportunity to compete in the NCAA tournament and hope to make a strong showing. Whitesides and Harris have been instrumental in the team’s success this season, with their outstanding performances on the court. This marks South Carolina’s first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2021, and the team is looking forward to representing their school in the postseason.
