Heirloom, a top U.S. Direct Air Capture (DAC) company, has secured $150 million in Series B funding, drawing support from industry leaders in sectors such as aviation, shipping, and manufacturing. The funds will be used to enhance Heirloom’s limestone-based DAC process, which captures CO₂ in just three days, making it a cost-effective solution for carbon removal. The company’s technology will drive down DAC costs and support large-scale projects like the DOE-backed Project Cypress, set to remove 1 million tons of CO₂ annually in Louisiana.
This recent funding milestone was co-led by Future Positive and Lowercarbon Capital, with new investors like Japan Airlines, Mitsubishi Corporation (Americas), Mitsui & Co., Ltd., and Siemens Financial Services joining in. Heirloom’s CEO, Shashank Samala, emphasized the importance of cost in DAC technology and highlighted the company’s commitment to delivering results through continued technological advancements.
Heirloom has made significant progress in the carbon removal space, partnering with major companies like Microsoft, Stripe, and JPMorgan, and launching North America’s first commercial DAC plant in Tracy, California. The company’s industry leadership and ability to attract key players in hard-to-decarbonize industries demonstrate its potential to revolutionize carbon removal solutions on a large scale. Heirloom’s growth since its founding in 2020 positions it as a global leader in DAC, combining innovation with impactful deployments to address climate change.
