The University of South Carolina is reportedly close to hiring Jeremiah Donati from TCU as the school’s next athletics director. A Board of Trustees meeting has been scheduled for today with the approval of Donati’s contract as the agenda item. Reports from various sources indicate that South Carolina is working towards finalizing the hire of Donati, who has been the AD at TCU since December 2017. Donati is known for overseeing record attendance numbers in multiple sports at TCU and leading the Horned Frogs to multiple national championships and conference titles. Before his time at TCU, Donati worked with Leigh Steinberg Sports and Entertainment, gaining experience in sports and player representation. Donati graduated from the University of Puget Sound with a B.A. in politics and government and holds a law degree from Whittier Law School. His potential hiring at South Carolina is seen as a positive move for the university’s athletic department. The upcoming meeting of the Board of Trustees is expected to address an unrelated contractual matter, but the excitement is building as the search for a replacement for Ray Tanner as athletics director appears to be coming to an end in Columbia.
