The University of South Carolina Football team has secured a spot in the 2024 Cheez-It Citrus Bowl in Orlando, Florida, where they will face off against the University of Illinois. The game is set to take place on December 31st at Camping World Stadium and will be televised nationally on ABC at 3 pm ET.
South Carolina head coach Shane Beamer expressed his excitement for the team’s return to Orlando and the opportunity to compete against Illinois for the first time. The Gamecocks finished the season with a 9-3 record, ranking 15th in the College Football Playoff standings, while the Fighting Illini finished with a 9-3 record and a 20th place ranking.
This will be the first meeting on the gridiron between the two state flagship universities, adding to the anticipation surrounding the matchup. South Carolina Athletic Director Ray Tanner described the Citrus Bowl as a great reward for the team’s hard work throughout the season.
