Pirates suffer a 75-68 defeat against South Carolina

East Carolina University’s men’s basketball team faced a tough challenge against South Carolina, ultimately falling 75-68 on the road. Jordan Riley led the Pirates with 18 points, while RJ Felton and C.J. Walker also contributed with 15 and 14 points respectively. South Carolina’s Jamarii Thomas and Collin Murray-Boyles were the standout performers, scoring 22 and recording a double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds, respectively. The Pirates got off to a slow start but managed to take a lead in the first half. However, South Carolina’s hot shooting from beyond the arc, making 12 three-pointers compared to ECU’s four, proved to be the difference. This loss marked the first time this season that Felton, Riley, and Walker each scored in double figures and the most three-pointers allowed by ECU this season. ECU is also 0-2 when their opponent shoots 50 percent or better from the floor. The Pirates will look to bounce back as they return home to face North Alabama in the first of a three-game homestand on Wednesday at 7 p.m. on ESPN+. Despite the loss, the Pirates will aim to regroup and secure a win in front of their home crowd.
