Hannah Kobayashi, a Hawaii woman who was the subject of a missing persons investigation in Southern California, has been found safe in Mexico, according to her family. After being reported missing when she missed her connecting flight to New York City, Kobayashi’s family revealed they were investigating whether she may have been involved in a green card marriage scam. Her father died by suicide during the search for her. Authorities discovered that Kobayashi voluntarily crossed into Mexico, intentionally missing her flight. There was no evidence of human trafficking or foul play, and it was believed she wanted to disconnect from her phone based on her social media activity. The family expressed gratitude for her safe return and requested privacy as they heal from the ordeal. The details of her discovery, as well as when and where she was found, have not been disclosed.
