Four members of the Gamecock volleyball program were recently recognized for their outstanding performances on and off the court. Graduate student Riley Whitesides was named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association’s All-Southeast Region team, while senior Oby Anadi, junior Sarah Jordan, and graduate student Ellie Ruprich were selected for the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District team.
Whitesides had a remarkable season as an attacker, averaging 4.47 kills per set and ranking inside the top 25 nationally. She set multiple program records and finished her career ranked in the top 10 for various statistical categories. Anadi, Ruprich, and Jordan also showed excellence both on the court and in the classroom, with Ruprich standing out for her pursuit of a Master’s in Business Analytics and impressive records in blocks.
The achievements of these four players contributed to South Carolina finishing the 2024 season with a 16-12 overall record and making the NCAA tournament for the fourth time under head coach Tom Mendoza. The team continues to make strides in both athletics and academics, with a strong focus on success both on and off the court.
