Huntington Ingalls Industries (HII) has recently begun operations at its newly acquired manufacturing facility in Goose Creek, South Carolina. The 480,000 square foot facility was acquired from W International and will focus on supporting the construction of submarine modules and aircraft carriers for the U.S. Navy. Following the acquisition, over 99% of the existing workforce at the facility have accepted offers to continue working on site.
U.S. Senator Tim Scott has praised the move, highlighting the importance of the highly skilled workforce in the Charleston area and the positive impact the acquisition will have on job creation and the defense industrial base. HII plans to open hundreds of job positions at the facility alongside state and local leadership.
