Cooler temperatures bring a chill to South Carolina’s spring games

Baseball and softball are back in full swing in South Carolina, but players and spectators might need to bundle up for some evening games. Despite starting with summer-like temperatures, the weather is expected to feel more like late March than May in the upcoming days. The chilly evenings might lead to pitchers warming up their hands as much as their arms during games. With clear skies, temperatures are expected to drop rapidly, potentially reaching the upper 50s by the end of games that go into the night.

The abnormally colder weather comes after a very warm start to April in the state. Afternoon temperatures were well above average for the first week of the month, with morning temperatures also near record highs. However, the cooler weather is not expected to last long, with temperatures likely to return to the mid-80s by the end of April. This fluctuation in weather is typical for spring in South Carolina.
