Technology Minerals reveals largest battery recycling partnership to date

Technology Minerals PLC, through its battery recycling arm Recyclus, has secured its largest commercial deal to date with a global industrial group for the processing of lithium-ion batteries. The one-year contract will see end-of-life batteries sent to Recyclus’s plant in Wolverhampton for breakdown and recycling. The company will generate income through gate fees and selling recovered materials, including “black mass” containing key metals for reuse in battery manufacturing. CEO Alex Stanbury described the customer as a global major in the industrial sector, with the potential to generate up to £2 million from the deal.

Recyclus, majority-owned by Technology Minerals, has been landing new contracts amid increasing demand for industrial battery waste solutions. CEO Stanbury highlighted the company’s momentum and commercial success in recent months. The contract illustrates confidence in Recyclus as a preferred recycler for leading manufacturers, positioning the company as a key player in the battery recycling sector.

Meanwhile, US Customs has begun collecting tariffs on imports from 86 countries, causing disruption in the American tech sector. Wedbush analysts likened the impact to the Great Depression-era Smoot-Hawley tariffs, with President Trump imposing duties on Chinese imports leading to chaos in global supply chains. This has resulted in frozen capital expenditure, delayed projects, and questions about availability due to the lack of US industrial infrastructure to fill the gap. Silicon Valley companies are facing increased costs, leading to uncertainty and the potential withholding of financial guidance. Despite the short-term challenges, long-term growth remains strong for leading tech companies like Apple and Nvidia, with 2026 seen as a more stable basis for valuation once tariff impacts are priced in. Investors are advised to navigate the market using a worst, base, and best-case framework to identify opportunities amid the current market volatility.
