South Carolina Gamecocks’ Connor Thomson and Atakan Karahan receive SEC Weekly Awards
COLUMBIA, S.C. – The South Carolina Gamecocks men’s tennis team had a successful week with two of their players earning SEC Weekly Awards. Connor Thomson was named SEC Player of the Week for the second time this season, while Atakan Karahan received SEC Freshman of the Week honors. Both players played crucial roles in the Gamecocks’ victories over Tennessee and Georgia.
Thomson went undefeated in his singles matches against both teams, earning crucial points for the team. Karahan also had a perfect weekend, winning all his singles and doubles matches and helping secure wins over both opponents.
In the match against Tennessee, Karahan clinched the doubles point alongside Jelani Sarr and then secured the overall victory with a hard-fought singles win. Against Georgia, Karahan once again played a pivotal role in securing the doubles point and winning his singles match.
