The experienced pilot had aborted the initial landing attempt, lost contact with air traffic control during the second attempt, and crashed into the ground at a high speed. The conditions at the time of the crash included overcast skies and snow on the ground. The plane, a Mitsubishi MU-2B, was recently upgraded and registered to an entity owned by Dr. Michael Groff. The NTSB is investigating the crash with video footage of the incident available for review but unlikely to be released publicly. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
