Governor and State Superintendent of South Carolina respond to tragic school bus accident


South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster and State Superintendent of Education Ellen Weaver expressed their grief and condolences after a school bus crash in Chester County turned deadly. The crash occurred on Interstate 77 near Exit 55, resulting in one student losing their life and 21 people being injured. The bus was carrying three adults and roughly 35 students returning from a field trip when a tire blew out, causing the driver to lose control. Governor McMaster stated on Facebook that the incident was a tragedy that no family should ever endure and asked for prayers for the victims and their families. Superintendent Weaver also expressed sorrow for the tragic accident and urged the community to come together in support and prayer. The entire state of South Carolina mourns the loss and sends thoughts and wishes for a speedy recovery to those who were injured.
