A DEA raid on an “underground nightclub” in Colorado resulted in the detention of approximately 114 undocumented immigrants. The operation, which took place after a months-long investigation, also revealed the presence of firearms, drugs, and more than a dozen active-duty service members among the patrons and security personnel. Following the raid, DEA Special Agent Jonathan Pullen stated that many of the drugs were discarded as law enforcement arrived, although cocaine and multiple small packages were seized.
The club, situated in a strip mall, was under observation for suspected drug trafficking and prostitution. Pullen indicated that significant criminal activities were occurring within, prompting the ongoing investigation and hinting at further operations in the city. Notably, two arrests were linked to existing state warrants.
U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi noted that members of violent gangs, including Venezuela’s Tren de Aragua and MS-13, were detained during the operation. President Donald Trump shared a video of the raid on social media, describing it as targeting dangerous criminals in the U.S. However, the DEA has not confirmed any murder charges among those arrested.
While the crackdown drew support from some officials, it raised concerns among advocates for immigrant rights and civil liberties lawyers. The Colorado Rapid Response Network advised those detained about their legal rights, emphasizing their right to remain silent and request legal representation. Partygoer Jose Dominguez, who was briefly detained, described the experience as disruptive but ultimately noted he was released without further issues.
