Gamecocks Football Welcomes Defensive Tackle Troy Pikes

South Carolina Football and Basketball Programs Make Strides with Portal and Commitments

South Carolina’s head football coach Shane Beamer is proactively bolstering his roster through the transfer portal, recently securing his 15th commitment from defensive tackle Troy Pikes, who hails from Georgia Southern. Standing at 6’3" and weighing 290 pounds, Pikes visited USC on April 29 after considering offers from programs like Georgia, Ohio State, and Georgia Tech. During his two seasons at Georgia Southern, Pikes played 13 games, logging 13 tackles, and previously excelled at Mays High School, accumulating 109 tackles and eight sacks in his senior year. Pikes is the fifth defensive tackle added to the Gamecocks’ 2025 class, which now boasts 42 newcomers.

In other news, former South Carolina offensive tackle Kam Pringle has transferred to Syracuse, maintaining four years of eligibility post-redshirt. Pringle, a standout at Woodland High School, entered the transfer portal last week in pursuit of new opportunities.

On the basketball front, the Gamecocks enhanced their 2025 roster with the addition of 6’7" small forward Abu Yarmah, who officially committed on April 28. A native of Roanoke, Virginia, Yarmah previously played for High Point University before reopening his recruitment. He has shown impressive capabilities in the Overtime Elite league, averaging 14 points and 8 rebounds per game last season. Yarmah, who was teammates with fellow Gamecock recruits Eli Ellis and Hayden Assemian, is the fifth high school commitment for USC’s 2025 class, joining six transfers in the lineup.

Both programs signify a commitment to growth and development, as Coach Beamer and Coach Paris continue to shape the future of their respective teams through strategic recruiting efforts.
