Kansas Women’s Tennis Prepares for NCAA Tournament Showdown Against South Carolina
LAWRENCE, Kan. – The Kansas women’s tennis team is set to face South Carolina in the First Round of the NCAA Tournament on May 2 at 12 p.m. CT, taking place at the Chewning Tennis Center in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Ranked No. 40 in the latest ITA Tennis rankings, the Jayhawks arrive after a spirited performance in the Big 12 Conference Tournament, where they triumphed over No. 9 TCU (4-2) before succumbing to top-seeded Texas Tech (4-1).
Senior Gracie Mulville leads the squad in singles with a record of 13-7 and a peak ranking of No. 67. Sophomore Kyoka Kubo, last year’s ITA Central Region Rookie of the Year, boasts a 13-6 record. In doubles, Mulville and teammate Heike Janse van Vuuren are ranked No. 31, with a 12-8 record at No. 1 doubles.
This marks Kansas’ seventh NCAA Tournament appearance under coach Todd Chapman and the 14th in program history. South Carolina, ranked No. 28, enters with a 14-11 record.
