South Carolina Gamecocks Advance to Semifinals at USA Basketball 3X Nationals
MESA, Ariz. – The South Carolina women’s basketball team made a strong showing at the 2025 USA Basketball 3X Nationals, held at the Arizona Athletic Grounds this weekend. The squad, consisting of Joyce Edwards, Tessa Johnson, Chloe Kitts, and Maddy McDaniel, were the last of ten college teams remaining in a competitive 16-team tournament.
Kicking off the event with a convincing 21-13 win over Team Phoenix, the Gamecocks continued their dominance, decisively defeating South Dakota State 21-5 — the largest margin of victory in the women’s bracket — and overcoming James Madison 16-11 to top Pool A.
In the quarterfinals, the Gamecocks faced Oklahoma State, clinching a strong 21-9 victory led by Edwards, who scored a team-high nine points, including the game-winner. However, their run came to an end in the semifinals against USA Basketball’s Chaos team, featuring experienced players like Olympic bronze medalist Cierra Burdick. The Gamecocks struggled early, falling behind 13-2 and ultimately losing 21-10.
The event serves as a critical evaluation for future USA Basketball 3×3 national teams, paving the way for opportunities at international competitions. Fans can stay updated on the Gamecocks’ journey through GamecocksOnline.com and their social media channels.
