COLUMBIA, S.C. – Six Transfers Join Gamecocks for 2025-26 Season
South Carolina Gamecocks head coach Lamont Paris announced the addition of six talented transfers to the roster for the upcoming 2025-26 basketball season. The new players include guards Meechie Johnson (Ohio State), Kobe Knox (USF), Mike Sharavjamts (Utah), and forwards Christ Essandoko (Providence), Elijah Strong (Boston College), and Nordin Kapic (UC San Diego).
Meechie Johnson returns to South Carolina after a stint at Ohio State, where he averaged 9.1 points and surpassed 1,000 career points. He previously played two successful seasons for the Gamecocks, showcasing his skills and leadership as they reached the NCAA Tournament in 2023-24. Paris expressed his excitement about Johnson’s return, noting his impactful role in the team’s success.
Essandoko, a forward with experience from Providence and Saint Joseph’s, boasts a 50.2% shooting average. He contributed last season with 4.3 points and positioned himself as a versatile player capable of stretching defenses. Knox brings his experience from USF, where he excelled in his junior year with 10.8 points per game while leading the team to an American Athletic Conference title.
Strong, a Charlotte native, had his best season at Boston College, averaging 9.6 points and turning heads with a standout performance against Temple. Sharavjamts, originally from Mongolia, brings a wealth of experience with a sharp offensive game, while Kapic, from Vienna, Austria, had a fruitful season at UC San Diego, averaging 10.7 points and aiding his team to a NCAA Tournament berth.
