Weekend Weather Update: Storms Clear for a Brighter Sunday
Midlands and Upstate residents can expect a much-improved weather forecast on Sunday compared to Saturday’s stormy conditions. While lingering clouds may persist, most regions will see the cold front clear by sunrise. A few scattered showers may cross through Pee Dee and Lowcountry areas in the morning, with a slight chance of isolated severe storms that could produce damaging winds, hail, or even a tornado. Fortunately, these storms are predicted to move offshore by noon, ushering in clearer skies for the afternoon.
High temperatures on Sunday will reach the upper 70s in the Midlands and Upstate, accompanied by a gentle breeze from the west-southwest. This wind pattern is likely to stay in place throughout the workweek, driven by a lingering low-pressure system. Evening temperatures may dip to about 5 degrees below average, settling around the mid-50s.
Additionally, while the latest drought monitor indicates some improvement in the Upstate, many areas in South Carolina continue to grapple with worsening drought conditions. A significant portion of the state remains under abnormally dry to moderate drought classifications.
