South Carolina Softball Secures No. 7 Seed for SEC Tournament
Athens, GA – The excitement ramped up as SEC softball concluded its 2025 regular season on Saturday. Following the final games, the bracket for the SEC Tournament was unveiled, set to kick off on May 6 at Turner Softball Stadium.
The South Carolina Gamecocks proudly claimed the No. 7 seed for the tournament and will face the winner of the first-round clash between No. 10 Alabama and No. 15 Auburn in their second-round matchup. Earlier this season, the Gamecocks lost a three-game series against Auburn but secured a series win against Alabama to close out their regular season.
South Carolina’s postseason positioning came down to a tight tiebreaker, as both they and Mississippi State finished SEC play with 13-11 records. The decisive factors included their performances against common opponents, with South Carolina allowing 59 runs compared to the Bulldogs’ 65.
In 2025, the Gamecocks have shown marked improvement from last year’s No. 11 seed finish, boasting an overall record of 39-14. They began the season with an impressive 20-game winning streak, highlighting a series sweep against then-No. 8 Duke. Their tournament journey begins on May 7 at 8 p.m., airing on the SEC Network.
