Tragic Boat Capsizing Off San Diego and Other Local Incidents
San Diego, CA – A small boat, believed to be carrying migrants, capsized off the Pacific coast near San Diego, resulting in the deaths of three individuals and leaving nine others missing. The Coast Guard reported the vessel, described as a "ponga," was likely involved in smuggling activities and had unclear origins. Four additional victims were rescued and treated for injuries.
In a separate incident, a 37-year-old man named Jeremy Bray was arrested by the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office for allegedly assaulting a person with disabilities. Deputies found the victim during a welfare check at a local residence. Bray faces multiple charges, including felony domestic abuse and neglect.
Meanwhile, the Rockingham County Department of Social Services has issued a warning regarding a scam targeting elderly residents. A fraudulent email, disguised as a summer low-income energy assistance program, is circulating and includes misleading information. Residents are advised not to respond, but to mark the emails as spam and delete them.
