South Carolina Stingrays: Forwards Ryan Hofer, Alexander Suzdalev, and Justin Nachbaur Join the Hershey Bears

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. – The South Carolina Stingrays, the ECHL affiliate of the NHL’s Washington Capitals and AHL’s Hershey Bears, have made significant roster changes ahead of the Calder Cup Playoffs.

The Capitals have reassigned forwards Ryan Hofer and Alexander Suzdalev to the Hershey Bears. In turn, forward Justin Nachbaur has been recalled to Hershey.

Ryan Hofer, a 22-year-old in his second professional season, has recorded 26 points with South Carolina this season and made a notable impact in the Kelly Cup Playoffs, scoring five points in seven games. Hofer, drafted by the Capitals in 2022, also contributed to Hershey’s 2024 Calder Cup Championship.

Twenty-one-year-old Suzdalev, in his first North American season, accumulated 39 points and was pivotal in the playoffs with an overtime-winning goal in game two.

Justin Nachbaur, in his fourth professional season, led the Stingrays with 173 penalty minutes this regular season. He has played a crucial role in both the Stingrays’ success and now for the Bears, with 24 penalty minutes accrued in four AHL games this season.

As the Bears prepare for a crucial playoff match this Friday, they trail their series 2-1 and need to secure victories to stay in contention for the Calder Cup.
