Waxhaw Woman Found Dead in Columbia; Suspected Killer Arrested

COLUMBIA, S.C. — Authorities have identified Logan Federico, 22, from Waxhaw, as the woman found dead in a Columbia home over the weekend. Her death, ruled a homicide due to a gunshot wound, occurred while she was visiting friends on Saturday.

Columbia Police have arrested 30-year-old Alexander Dickey, identified as the suspected shooter. Police Chief Skip Holbrook stated that Dickey allegedly broke into two homes, stealing various items, including a firearm. While at the home where Federico was present, Dickey reportedly took wallets and credit cards before fatally shooting her. He then fled in a stolen vehicle, using the stolen cards at multiple stores.

Dickey is facing charges including murder, along with numerous other offenses linked to a crime spree across the Midlands, culminating in an arrest after a separate burglary where he allegedly set a home on fire. He was booked into the Lexington County Detention Center, where bail has been denied.

Federico’s father, Stephen, described his daughter as a spirited individual with aspirations of becoming a teacher, emphasizing her love for children. He expressed his grieving heart but also his gratitude towards law enforcement. The investigation remains ongoing.
