Wrice Earns SEC Freshman of the Week, Sets Impressive 400m Time
COLUMBIA, S.C. (May 6, 2025) – South Carolina Track & Field standout freshman, Josiah Wrice, has earned yet another SEC Freshman of the Week accolade, as announced by the Southeastern Conference on Tuesday. Wrice achieved a remarkable personal best of 45.20 seconds in the 400 meters at the East Coast Relays, securing a runner-up finish and clocking the fourth-fastest time in Gamecock history. His performance also places him fifth on the East Regional leaderboard and tenth nationally in the NCAA.
Wrice’s impressive season continues as he showcases his talent on the track, solidifying his status as a rising star in collegiate athletics. The Gamecock squad, buoyed by Wrice’s achievements, is gearing up for the SEC Outdoor Championship, which kicks off on Thursday, May 15, in Lexington, Kentucky.
