South Carolina Gamecocks Set for SEC Softball Tournament Showdown
ATHENS, Ga. — The No. 14/12 ranked South Carolina Gamecocks are gearing up for their SEC Tournament debut on Wednesday night, taking on the winner of the Alabama vs. Auburn matchup at 8 p.m. With a 39-14 overall record and a 13-11 conference finish, this marks South Carolina’s best SEC standing since 2018.
Under the leadership of first-year head coach Ashley Chastain Woodard, the Gamecocks have achieved impressive milestones, including becoming the winningest first-year coach in program history with 39 victories. The team boasts a strong performance against ranked opponents, notching six series wins against top-20 teams this season.
South Carolina’s offense is propelled by standout players such as Arianna Rodi, who leads the squad with 14 home runs and a new program record of 43 walks. Historically, South Carolina has a 28-26 record in SEC Tournament play, with two championships to its name. The squad is looking to build on its past successes, having advanced to the finals five times, most recently in 2023.
