South Carolina Football Offers Scholarship to Rising STAR James Pace
The South Carolina football coaching staff continues to make strides in recruiting talent from the DMV region, with defensive ends and outside linebackers coach Sterling Lucas leading the charge. Recently, Lucas extended a scholarship offer to 4-star EDGE prospect James Pace from Hyattsville, Maryland, who currently plays at the prestigious DeMatha Catholic High School.
Pace’s skill set has generated interest from a host of elite programs, including Alabama, Georgia, and Florida State, showcasing his high potential as a defensive end. Known for his exceptional first step and body control, the 6-foot-3 athlete has proven to be a formidable pass rusher while also displaying aptitude in run defense. As he develops further in a college training environment, his physicality is expected to increase significantly.
Ranked as the nation’s No. 93 player in the 2027 class, Pace is regarded as the No. 10 EDGE prospect and the third-best in Maryland. South Carolina’s strong ties to the DMV are underscored by the presence of current Gamecock players from the area, including former 5-star Dylan Stewart. As recruitment continues, Pace’s commitment could bolster USC’s already impressive defensive lineup.
