Kidnapping Case Ends Safely in Rockdale County
ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – A harrowing kidnapping incident that began in South Carolina culminated in Rockdale County on Saturday, according to Covington police. The ordeal started when a woman approached a stranger at a Morgan County rest stop, claiming she had been kidnapped and urgently requested assistance.
The bystander promptly called 911, providing police with a description of the suspect’s vehicle. Covington police later spotted the car on I-20 and attempted a traffic stop; however, the driver, identified as Charles Davis, fled with the victim still inside. Law enforcement successfully executed a PIT maneuver to halt the vehicle in Rockdale County.
Davis attempted to escape on foot but was quickly apprehended. Fortunately, the victim was found unharmed. Investigations revealed that the situation had originated in South Carolina before transitioning into Georgia. The circumstances surrounding how the victim re-entered the vehicle after seeking help remain unclear.
