South Carolina Softball Advances to Super Regionals for First Time Since 2018
COLUMBIA, SC – South Carolina’s softball team, ranked No. 8, clinched its spot in the Super Regionals after a flawless 3-0 performance at the Columbia Regional, concluding with an impressive 8-0 victory over North Florida on Sunday. The Gamecocks (43-15) will face No. 9 UCLA in a best-of-three series starting Thursday, May 22, or Friday, May 23.
This marks South Carolina’s first Super Regional appearance since 2018 and their inaugural hosting opportunity at Beckham Field. Head Coach Ashley Chastain Woodard expressed excitement, stating, “Once you reach a certain point, your mind is… a few away from the biggest stage we’ve always dreamed of playing on.”
UCLA’s softball team, with a storied history and 12 national championships, is looking to further its success after dominating the Los Angeles Regional. Despite a setback in the Big Ten Championship, the Bruins remain a formidable opponent, having run-ruled their competition throughout the regional.
As South Carolina embarks on its journey toward the Women’s College World Series for the first time in nearly three decades, the anticipation builds among players and fans alike.
