COLUMBIA — South Carolina’s standout football safety, Nick Emmanwori, is poised to make a significant impact in the upcoming 2025 NFL Draft, with projections placing him as a potential early first-round pick.
Emmanwori, who has spent three impactful years under head coach Shane Beamer, established himself as one of the SEC’s premier safeties in the 2024 season. The 6-foot-3, 227-pound player recorded four interceptions and led with 57 solo tackles, showcasing his defensive prowess.
Emmanwori also excelled at the NFL Combine, achieving an impressive overall score of 85, marked by a formidable 4.38-second 40-yard dash and standout grades in both production and athleticism. His combine performance earned him a 6.41 grade, the top score among safeties, indicating he is likely to become a solid starter within two years.
As the draft approaches, analysts are buzzing about Emmanwori’s potential landing spots. The Athletic and Draft Wire both project him to the Miami Dolphins at No. 13, praising his combination of size and speed. CBS Sports, however, predicts he may go to the Atlanta Falcons at No. 15, while ESPN suggests the Minnesota Vikings might snag him at No. 24. Other projections include a potential fit with the Baltimore Ravens at No. 27 and the Washington Commanders at No. 29.
Emmanwori’s ability to adapt to various defensive schemes enhances his appeal, and many believe he could contribute immediately at the professional level, thanks to his blend of physicality and intelligence.
