Press Release: Investigation Opens into Allegations Against Bryant
South Carolina – An investigation has been launched by the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) concerning allegations of assault, harassment, and voyeurism involving Patrick Bryant. The inquiry began in December 2023 after U.S. Capitol Police alerted SLED to potential misconduct.
Key witness, Donehue, revealed that fellow political figure Nancy Mace had initially shown him incriminating photos purportedly extracted from Bryant’s phone. Mace reportedly expressed intentions to leverage this information to claim ownership over two disputed properties. Concerned about the implications of Mace’s actions, Donehue advised her to report the findings to authorities, stressing the moral and career consequences of inaction.
“I told her, if it ever comes out that you knew of women being harmed and did nothing, your career is over,” Donehue recounted. He later faced subpoenas from both SLED and Bryant’s attorney, where he disclosed everything regarding the relationship dynamics among the three individuals.
Despite a meeting with Bryant in March 2024, Donehue ultimately declined to comply with Mace’s intentions regarding the properties, which led to strained relations. He described Mace’s behavior as exaggerated and paranoid.
After severing ties with Mace in August 2024, Donehue has openly questioned her motives on social media. He characterized her as someone who sees threats everywhere, leading to his discomfort with her tactics.
As the investigation unfolds, community members remain anxious about the ramifications for local politics. The situation continues to develop, with a focus on bringing clarity to this troubling case in South Carolina’s Lowcountry.
