USC Board Approves $350 Million Renovation for Williams-Brice Stadium
COLUMBIA, SC – The University of South Carolina’s Board of Trustees has greenlit a substantial $350 million renovation plan for Williams-Brice Stadium, aimed at enhancing the game day experience and increasing revenue opportunities.
“We are grateful to the Board of Trustees for their leadership and excited to see this project develop further,” said USC Athletics Director Jeremiah Donati. He noted that collaboration with key partners, including Populous and Contract Construction, has set the stage for construction to begin post-2025 football season.
Donati outlined five primary initiatives during a recent teleconference meeting. The first priority is expanding premium seating on the stadium’s west side, which is expected to generate approximately $200 million in revenue. Plans include adding 10 new “Founder’s Suites” in the 100 level and 33 suites in the 200 level with adjacent clubs, along with a new field-level club for enhanced access.
The student section will also see significant upgrades, considering the addition of an air-conditioned club and improved restroom facilities, while new video boards will heighten visibility for students.
Resolving operational inefficiencies is another key focus, with plans to relocate the visitor locker room and establish a loading dock to facilitate event logistics. Furthermore, enhancing fan experience through more restrooms and revamped concession stands is part of the initiative.
Finally, the project proposes upgraded amenities for athletes, including enhancements to the locker room and training facilities.
Donati emphasized the overarching goal of the project: to positively impact as many fans and student-athletes as possible while generating crucial revenue to support USC’s diverse sports programs. The Board of Trustees approved the project’s budget and bond resolution, paving the way for future developments.
