University of South Carolina Advances Williams-Brice Stadium Renovations
COLUMBIA, SC – The University of South Carolina (USC) Board of Trustees has officially approved the next phase of renovations to Williams-Brice Stadium, marking a significant step toward enhancing the game day experience for fans. USC Athletics Director Jeremiah Donati expressed gratitude for the Board’s leadership, emphasizing the collaborative efforts with renowned partners such as Populous, Legends, Contract Construction, and Manhattan Construction Company.
The ambitious project aims to improve various aspects of the stadium, including additional premium seating, upgrades to the student section, renovations of locker rooms, and enhancements to concourses, concessions, and restrooms. "Our fans deserve a great experience when they attend games," stated Board of Trustees Chairman Thad Westbrook, underscoring the initiative’s role in boosting athletics revenue and improving the overall experience during a transformative era in college athletics.
Earlier this year, Populous, an internationally acclaimed design firm with a portfolio that includes projects for universities like Missouri, Texas, and Florida State, was chosen to lead the design of the stadium’s upgrades. The firm is working closely with university staff to chart the course for the renovations.
In addition, USC has aligned with Legends, a global company focused on premium experiences to enhance fan engagement and streamline revenue generation. Contract Construction, with past experience on USC projects, and Manhattan Construction Company, known for major sports facilities, have been selected as contractors for the project.
The next crucial step will occur in August 2025, when USC officials will present to the State’s Joint Bond Review Committee and State Fiscal Accountability Authority for further approvals. For more details on the Williams-Brice Stadium project, visit gamecocksonline.com/wbsproject.
