Owned by Melyn Yamaguchi, TCJ Micro Mart is a culmination of her lifelong dream to own a store, inspired by her experiences aiding her parents in their small business on the island.
Melyn, who also operates a retail business in Omaha, recognized a substantial demand for cultural essentials, as many customers traveled over an hour from regions like Sioux City and Cass County to purchase these items. This realization led her to find the ideal location in Atlantic, ensuring that the local Pacific Islander community has access to the products they need.
After receiving the keys to the store in March, Melyn and her family diligently researched and sourced a diverse selection of products tailored to their community. TCJ Micro Mart features an extensive range of ethnic foods, clothing, and jewelry from Micronesia and other Pacific Islands, all aimed at fostering cultural pride and accessibility.
Open from Monday to Saturday, 10 AM to 5 PM, the store also provides the convenience of online ordering and delivery, catering to the needs of busy customers. The grand opening was a significant step towards further expanding services to meet the evolving needs of area residents.
