South Carolina National Guard and USC Aiken Break Ground on $13 Million Cyber Integration Center
AIKEN, S.C. — A groundbreaking ceremony took place on May 27 for a new $13 million Cyber Integration Center at the University of South Carolina Aiken (USCA). The facility, adjacent to the Savannah River National Laboratory’s Advanced Manufacturing Collaborative, aims to enhance collaboration among cybersecurity professionals from academia, government, and the private sector.
According to U.S. Army Maj. Gen. Robin B. Stilwell, the adjutant general of South Carolina, this center represents a pivotal investment in both the state’s cybersecurity capabilities and national security. He emphasized that the partnership with USCA is crucial for developing a skilled workforce equipped to tackle evolving cyber threats.
The Cyber Integration Center will serve as a cornerstone for the South Carolina Army National Guard’s expanding cybersecurity complex, which includes a 43,000-square-foot Readiness Center, a project exceeding $30 million. Together, these facilities will provide significant training and logistical support to two South Carolina Army National Guard units and offer USCA students mentorship opportunities alongside National Guard personnel.
Overall, the investment of over $44 million reflects a strong commitment to community growth and modernization, crucial for safeguarding South Carolina and the nation against cyber threats.
