West Columbia Man Indicted on 13 Counts of Child Exploitation

Florence, SC – The U.S. Department of Justice announced that a federal grand jury has indicted 55-year-old Stephen Todd Greene from West Columbia, South Carolina, on 13 charges related to child sex abuse. Greene is accused of conspiring to exploit children in Brazil through livestream abuse from June 2023 to September 2024.

According to the indictment, Greene collaborated with a Brazilian woman—referred to as “co-conspirator 1”—to sexually exploit her young nieces, aged 3 and 9. The two allegedly utilized various platforms, including Instagram, WhatsApp, and Telegram, to facilitate their crimes, which involved livestreaming the abuse. Greene reportedly traveled to Brazil twice, directly accessing the victims.

Charges against Greene include conspiracy to produce child sexual abuse material, multiple counts of production and distribution of such material, and coercion and enticement of minors. He faces a maximum penalty of life in prison, along with significant fines and potential restitution to the victims.

FBI agents arrested Greene, who has been detained pending a bond hearing. The investigation involved collaboration with Brazilian authorities, highlighting international efforts to combat child exploitation.
