WILLIAMSTON, S.C. – A tragic hit-and-run incident occurred on Wednesday, leading to the death of a local man, 72-year-old Bobby Joe Sims from Belton. According to the Anderson County Coroner’s Office, Sims was struck by a vehicle around 1:45 p.m. and was subsequently airlifted to Prisma Health in Greenville, where he succumbed to his injuries on Monday evening.
The driver involved, 49-year-old Erica Lynn Rosser, has been charged with leaving the scene of the accident and driving under suspension. Authorities reported that the incident unfolded in the 200 block of Hamilton Street, and police emphasized the seriousness of the situation with respect to pedestrian safety.
