Gamecocks Secure Transfer Catcher Reese Moore for Upcoming Season
Columbia, SC – The South Carolina Gamecocks have announced the addition of catcher Reese Moore, who has committed to the program after transferring from Iowa. This acquisition addresses a pivotal need for the team, which faced challenges behind the plate during the past season.
Moore, who spent three seasons with the Hawkeyes, redshirted in 2023 and boasts two years of eligibility remaining. A standout at Iowa, he compiled an impressive batting average of .296 with 14 home runs and 77 RBI across 365 at-bats. His accolades include being named to the All-Big Ten First Team in 2025, after hitting .304 with nine homers and 45 RBI that season. Notably, he has maintained a remarkable .992 fielding percentage with only two errors in 107 games.
South Carolina will also welcome back Talmadge LeCroy and Gavin Braland, while potential decisions loom over freshman Noah Franklin due to the upcoming MLB Draft. Moore becomes the 12th player to join the Gamecocks through the transfer portal this offseason, part of a broader recruitment drive aimed at strengthening the roster ahead of the new season. The portal is open for player transfers until July 1.
