Gamecocks Set to Face Virginia Tech in 2025 ACC/SEC Challenge
BRISTOL, Conn. – ESPN has confirmed the matchups for the 2025 ACC/SEC Challenge, with the South Carolina Gamecocks scheduled to host the Virginia Tech Hokies at Colonial Life Arena on Tuesday, December 2.
Under head coach Lamont Paris, the Gamecocks have made a strong showing in the challenge, boasting a 2-0 record with victories over Notre Dame in 2023 and Boston College in 2024. The SEC had an impressive run last season, finishing with a 14-2 record in the challenge, while the leagues ended their inaugural set of games tied at 7-7 in 2023.
Historically, South Carolina has an edge over Virginia Tech, leading the all-time series 20-13. The two teams last faced off in a thrilling encounter in 2023, where the Gamecocks triumphed 79-77 in Charlotte, marking head coach Paris’ 100th career victory. Notable performances included B.J. Mack, who scored the decisive basket with just 20 seconds remaining, finishing the game with 19 points and six rebounds.
The Gamecocks continued their success against the Hokies last season, securing a 70-60 victory during the Beach Division’s third-place game at the Fort Myers Tip-Off.
