COLUMBIA, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) — The South Carolina Athletic Hall of Fame (SCAHOF) has announced an exciting partnership with the South Carolina State Museum, marking a new chapter for the Hall of Fame. The museum will now serve as the home for the SCAHOF, which boasts over 350 members, celebrating the achievements of South Carolina athletes.

SCAHOF Executive Director Andy Solomon expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, “This is another terrific day in the history of athletics in South Carolina. We’re thrilled to collaborate with the South Carolina State Museum.” He highlighted that the Hall has traditionally thrived through word of mouth, annual induction ceremonies, and social media, and this partnership is expected to elevate its visibility even further.

Amy Bartow-Melia, Executive Director of the South Carolina State Museum, echoed these sentiments, adding, “The State Museum is committed to preserving and sharing objects and stories that reflect the history and culture of our state. This partnership will enhance our ability to spark curiosity and inspire learning while highlighting the incredible achievements of South Carolina athletes.”

The collaboration will be formalized at an announcement event scheduled for May 18. Additionally, the SCAHOF is set to induct its latest class this Monday, which features notable figures such as Clint Dempsey, a Furman University alum and national soccer star, along with former Coastal Carolina baseball coach Gary Gilmore.
