In-State Four-Star Prospect Set for Official Visit Weekend at South Carolina

Final Recruiting Weekend Heats Up for South Carolina Football

As South Carolina football gears up for a crucial recruiting weekend, the Gamecocks have welcomed a significant addition to their official visit list. In-state standout Sequel Patterson announced on Thursday that he will visit campus this weekend, raising the total number of official visitors to eight.

Patterson, an athlete from Indian Land High School, recently reclassified from the class of 2027 to 2026. Following this change, On3’s Steve Wiltfong made a Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM) forecast indicating that Patterson is likely to commit to South Carolina. He has narrowed his college options to three contenders: South Carolina, Tennessee, and Georgia.

Though Patterson was previously rated as the nation’s 79th overall prospect, he currently occupies the 220th spot in the 2026 class rankings. Nevertheless, he remains one of the top athletes, sitting at number 10 nationally and fifth in South Carolina. His versatile skill set shines on both sides of the ball, but Gamecocks wide receivers coach Mike Furrey is particularly interested in him as a receiver.

Patterson’s explosive athleticism and potential as a route-runner make him an ideal fit for South Carolina’s offensive strategy. Should he choose the Gamecocks, he will be the fifth four-star receiver from South Carolina to commit in recent recruiting cycles. Furrey has previously secured commitments from talented local prospects, including Malik Clark and Donovan Murph, who also jumped a class before joining the program.

South Carolina’s recruiting efforts reflect a commitment to enhancing their roster, and Patterson’s impending visit adds to the excitement as the Gamecocks prepare for the upcoming season.
