New Survey Shows South Carolina Pet Owners Top the Nation in Prioritizing Pet Health

South Carolina Pet Owners Rank Highest in Health Care Commitment

Vancouver, Wash. – June 20, 2025 – A recent survey by Banfield Pet Hospital, celebrating its 70th anniversary, has revealed that South Carolina pet owners are leading the nation in prioritizing their pets’ health. Surveying 5,000 pet owners across the U.S., the findings highlighted South Carolina pet owners as the most diligent when it comes to preventive care.

Key insights from the survey showed that 48% of South Carolinians never miss flea and tick treatments, and 39% maintain a wellness plan for their pets. Furthermore, 21% ensure they never miss their pet’s twice-yearly checkups, while 39% keep up with vaccination schedules. Despite these impressive statistics, there remains room for improvement, as only 29% of pet owners reported having pets at the vet-recommended weight, although half said their pets receive regular exercise.

Banfield Pet Hospital, with locations throughout South Carolina, aims to meet pets’ evolving health needs. As a pioneer in preventive veterinary care, the organization emphasizes its commitment to enhancing veterinary medicine and community support through initiatives like Banfield Gives Back.
