Rita Benson LeBlanc Arrested in South Carolina

Rita Benson LeBlanc, once considered the heir apparent to her grandfather, Tom Benson, regarding ownership of the New Orleans Saints, was arrested on June 16 in South Carolina. According to local reports from WCSC-TV, LeBlanc is facing charges for allegedly assaulting a parking enforcement officer who attempted to boot her car. Authorities state that during the incident, she pushed the officer and briefly took their boot-locking tool.

After her arrest, LeBlanc was released the next day on a personal-recognizance bond. LeBlanc served as the vice chairman of the Saints and was initially perceived as the future owner of the team. However, in 2012, her grandfather suspended her, and by 2015, he announced that she would no longer be considered for succession. A legal battle ensued, culminating in a settlement in 2016, wherein LeBlanc retained partial ownership of the team.

As the NFL investigates the incident, it remains unclear whether she still holds ownership status, and if so, she could face disciplinary measures under the league’s Personal Conduct Policy.
